The real thing
The Jerusalem Tavern in Clerkenwell feels like an ancient establishment, as traditionally London as public hangings and cholera. Yet it's nothing of the sort, dating no earlier than the dim, distant days of 1996. But authenticity is not about age, but about some intangible essence of vitality and companionship, and the Jerusalem reeks of it.
