Float your boat
Going abroad for holidays is clearly a thing of the past, something to tell your incredulous grandchildren about while they pick around for food on the rubbish dumps. But that's not all bad, because staying in Britain can always mean a trip on a canalboat, and that can provide access to remarkable little pubs that you'd never encounter tearing around in a car or flying to Barbados. And no pub captures the slow and easy atmosphere of the canals quite like the Anchor on the Shropshire Union Canal. Truly one of the greats.
